Museum Studies

Program Requirements

Students who are completing an undergraduate minor or graduate (transcriptable) certification in Museum Studies must complete 15 credits from the following:

Undergraduate program: Both Foundations of Museum Studies (AL/HA/ANP 485) and Museum Studies Internship (AL 496), and at least three of the following:

  • AL 488 Curatorial Methods and Practices, 3 credits
  • AL 492 Special Topics in Museum Studies, 3 credits
  • AL 494 Museum Exhibitions: Theory and Development, 3 credits
  • AL 497 Practicum in Museum Studies, 1-3 credits
  • AL 498 Learning in Museums, 3 credits

 

Graduate Program: Both Fundamentals of Museum Studies (AL 886) 3 credits, and Museum Internship (AL 893) 3 credits and at least three of the following:

  • AL 494 Museum Exhibitions: Theory and Development
  • AL 498 Learning in Museums
  • AL 887 Museums and Technology
  • AL 888 Curatorial Practices in Museums
  • AL 895 Special Topics in Museums
  • AL 897 Practicum in Museums
  • CSUS 873 Culture, Communities and Tourism
